It is conveniently situated in a central part of town being just a short distance from all major hospitals, various churches, and one of Louisiana’s largest and finest shopping malls. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, shaded by oak and pine trees, as well as azalea bushes, camellia bushes, and magnolia trees. Our American flag, that we are so proud of, wavers over our front lawn adding patriotism to our home.Capitol House was founded by the late Mr. and Mrs. John V. Latil. The Latils began operating the home (formerly Capitol Nursing Home) in 1959. Through their hard work and concern for the elderly and physically handicapped, they earned an excellent reputation in the community, and were loved by the residents who lived at Capitol House. We are a privately owned and operated facility in Baton Rouge. Capitol House is more than a nursing facility. Our residents call it home. From the spacious and elegant design to the caring and professional staff, we are "Your Home Away From Home" where we set the standard in Long Term Care. We are sensitive to the individual needs of each resident, and to the importance of making them feel welcome and at-home. Their comfort and happiness comes first. We provide them with an environment in which they are secure, loved, and appreciated. Capitol House is licensed by the State of Louisiana and has met and satisfied all state standards. Financial Arrangements:| Medicaid Benefits | Medicaid eligibility is determined by state regulations and Medicaid admissions to our facility accepted based upon bed availability. Our social services department can provide information and assistance when seeking Medicaid admission. | | Medicare Benefits | We will make every effort to obtain Medicare benefits for residents who qualify and to bill Medicare for you. However, Medicare insured residents are responsible for paying health care costs which are not covered by Medicare. | | Private Pay | You must pay for room and board at the time of admission. After that, payment is due upon receipt of their statement. Statements are mailed monthly. We will refund unused portions of any month's room and board. |
How to determine if you qualify for Long-Term Medicaid eligibility?LONG TERM CARE MEDICAID ELIGIBILITY Individuals must meet a “level” of care requirement determined by DHH Health Standards Section based on medical data provided by a Louisiana Physician | Resources | - Must be less than $2,000.00 on the 1st day of the month in which you are applying for Medicaid.
- If applicable, the individual’s home and single auto will be excluded.
- Individual cannot own any out-of-state property.
- Cash values of life/burial insurance must be less than $10,000.00

| | Patient Liability | - The individual may or may not have a monthly responsibility to the facility for room/board based on their income and certain allowances determined by the state.

- The individual’s PLI will change whenever his gross income/insurance premiums change.

These are basic requirements for Long Term Care Medicaid Eligibility. Applicants are considered on a case-by-case basis. Long Term Care facilities can only guide applicants in the Medicaid application process. The facility cannot determine Medicaid eligibility or PLI. Only the parish Medicaid office can approve Medicaid eligibility.
