Rehabilitation Services Capitol House provides licensed Occupational, Speech, and Physical Therapists to meet the needs of our residents. We strongly believe in the "Quality of Life" and provide support and rehabilitative services to promote such. Our programs are broad enough to meet the needs of our entire population, while giving a great deal of individual attention to each resident. Skilled Care Unit For those residents whose needs become greater, Capitol House offers a skilled care unit. There are Nurses on duty 24 hours a day in addition to Certified Nursing Assistants. These skilled professionals deliver and monitor medication and other treatments. Occupational, Speech and Physical Therapies are also provided to residents on the Skilled Care Unit. This unit will allow a resident to remain in the same familiar and comfortable environment while increasing the level of care to meet their needs. Special Care Unit This exclusive service is designed to meet the needs of residents with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. It offers those residents who require a protective and supportive environment, the supervision and assistance they need to ensure their comfort and safety. This Unit is fully staffed with professionals who are specifically trained to care for the mentally frail resident. Additionally, the unit is self contained and all areas are secure allowing residents to ambulate freely. Respiratory Services (Ventilator Management) Capitol House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center provides specialized care for long-term respiratory patients. Our pulmonary program provides ventilator management and weaning, tracheostomy care, and pulmonary hygiene. We also provide oxygen and humidity therapy. Caregiver Relief Capitol House is fully equipped to provide the best available respite care in the times you may need it most. Sometimes, a caregiver’s schedule requires they simply need a break. We can assist you in transferring the patient to Capitol House during the respite period. Capitol House will contract with a local hospice or trained caregiver to monitor the patients’ comfort level while the primary caregiver is away. You will have the assurance that caring people, familiar with the patient’s needs, will provide the best available care to your loved one. Activities Program The Activities Program at Capitol House is both progressive and productive. We sponsor a lengthy calendar of events designed to keep both mind and body healthy and active. For those who prefer quiet time, we provide television, reading, and other less-involved activities in our relaxing living room. Nutritional Services The staff at Capitol House includes a Registered Dietician to ensure that the nutritional needs of each resident are met. Upon admission, each resident receives a nutritional and dietary assessment. This will outline any special needs as well as identify any particular food likes and dislikes. Meals are delicious and well-balanced, and served in our spacious and attractive dining hall.
