Physical, Occupational & Speech TherapyCapitol House provides licensed Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapists to meet the needs of our residents. We strongly believe in the “Quality of Life” and provide support and rehabilitative services to promote such. Our programs are broad enough to meet the needs of our entire population, while giving a great deal of individual attention to each resident. Restorative NursingUnder the direction of our Express Recovery Unit, the Capitol House Restorative Nursing staff utilizes input from each department to create an individualized pathway for every resident. Our goal is to return each individual to their highest practicable physical, mental, and psychological functional level and well being. Program GoalsOur goal at Capitol House is to return each resident to his/her highest level of function. Individual programs are tailored to include goals that will ensure that appropriate functional skills can be identified, learned, safely implemented and reinforced. We have answered the call for an environment that allows intensive specialized services, and produces outcomes worthy of a patient population that desires to return home or to an independent living environment. Our Orthopedic Program provides a therapeutic, holistic approach that meets the highest standards of quality in the most cost-effective and value-added manner. Capitol House meets federal and state regulations, and requirements of most third party payers. What YOU Need To KnowThe “Medicare 75%” Rule The Medicare 75% Rule limits the number of patients the hospitals can treat for such common problems as hip and knee replacements, and encourages patients to get short-term rehabilitation in skilled-nursing facilities, such as Capitol House with our Express Recovery Unit. Background on the Medicare 75% Rule Medicare pays inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRF) at a higher rate than other hospitals because IRFs are designed to offer specialized rehabilitation care to patients with the MOST intensive needs. For example: stroke, spinal-cord injury, amputation, burns and neurological disorders. The 75% Rule has been part of the criteria for defining IRFs since the implementation of the inpatient PPS in 1983. The purpose is to insure that the IRF is primarily involved in providing intensive rehab services to patients that can’t be serviced in other settings, such as the Express Recovery Unit with Capitol House. In 2004, CMS expanded the criteria to 13 medical conditions in order to qualify for IRF. Many patients were forced in to other areas that need a specialty orthopedic unit. Don’t let this happen to you. YOU decide on the facility in which you will receive the best care and most specialized treatment available. These services are available at Capitol House in our Express Recovery Unit. The majority of our residents in the Express Recovery Unit are only at Capitol House for 30-60 days. We will arrange a home health service that best suits your individual needs so there is no break in rehabilitation services. Put the burden of rehabilitation services on the Express Recovery Unit and you will see outstanding results.
